THE DANCE CENTRE COVID-19 GUIDELINES
The Dance Centre at the ROC
2021-22 Covid-19 Guidelines
Parents, please review the following studio guidelines and keep this handout for future reference.
1. Students will arrive no more than 10 minutes before designated class time. Please make sure student has used the bathroom prior to arrival and is completely dressed in dance attire.
2. All students must bring a face covering to class. We will be closely following the transmission rates for the area and there will be times that masks will be required for all or parts of class. Please practice with your young dancer at home prior to classes beginning.
3. We will no longer be doing temperature checks, at least at the beginning of the year. Please monitor your child for any symptoms of illness and keep her at home if there is any doubt.
4. Students will wait in lobby with Ms. Mary Beth or Ms. Carly and will practice social distancing. Parents may wait in their car or feel free to run errands during this time. We need to have a current phone number in case you need to be reached during class time.
5. Promptly at class time we will go up the stairs to the studio. Elevator will not be used. Once in classroom, students will place their dance bag in a chair, change into dance shoes and clean hands with hand sanitizer. Chairs and tap boards will be set up in a socially distant place from each other. Students need to have their own hand sanitizer in their bag. Masks will be used whenever we work on close group activities or choreography; otherwise, it is parents' choice whether or not your child wears a mask.
6. Especially for younger students, please have a conversation at home about maintaining social distance from their friends. I know this will be a challenge for our pre-schoolers and we will need to work together as a team to be successful.
7. Mid class when we change shoes, students may bring a water bottle from home for water break. During this small break time, hands will be sanitized again.
8. At the end of class, students will be taken back downstairs by their teacher. Please pickup promptly. At the beginning of the year we will drop off and pick up in front. If transmission rates go up, we will go back to side door pick up.
9. Staff members will be cleaning between classes, so your prompt arrival and pick-up is very important. All students need to have a personal bottle of hand sanitizer, a mask, water bottle (if desired), and dance shoes in their bags. Please do not send book bags, extra belongings, food from home, etc.

2. All persons must wear a face covering when entering and exiting the building. Please practice with your young dancer at home prior to classes beginning. Exceptions are staff and students who are fully vaccinated.
3. For the time being, we will not be doing temperature checks. However, please monitor your student for any symptoms of illness and keep her/him home if there is any doubt.
4. One at a time, students will then go directly to classroom. Studios will have designated socially distant areas for each dancer. There will be a corresponding floor marker for each student to place his or her dance bag and water bottle. Student will put on dance shoes and then clean hands with hand sanitizer. Each student will bring his/her own bottle of hand sanitizer and keep in dance bag. Once in the designated dance space, student may remove mask, unless parent prefers otherwise.
5. Lobby and dressing room are closed except to staff. Parents may come in to pay tuition or to speak with a staff member but masks are required for entry.
6. Especially for younger students, please have a conversation at home about maintaining social distance from their friends. I know this will be a challenge for our pre-schoolers and we will need to work together as a team to be successful.
7. Mid class when we change shoes, students may bring a water bottle from home or get one from Ms. Kay for water break. Parents will need to set up a charge account ahead of time if student will be getting water or snacks from Ms. Kay. During this small break time, hands will be sanitized again.
8. We will be following CDC guidelines for schools. While students are in their socially distant space, masks will not be required, unless parent prefers. When students are unable to retain social distancing due to choreography or other classwork, they will put on masks for brief periods. Please make sure your dancer has a clean mask on hand at all times. Any student who is fully vaccinated will not be required to wear a mask. Please let Ms. Mary Beth or Ms. Kay know if your student is vaccinated.
9. At the end of class, parents will pick up in the back of the shopping center behind our studio. Please be prompt as we need to quickly dismiss in order for staff to clean between classes. (The last class of each day may be picked up in the front of the studio.) Students will remain in their socially distant space until called for dismissal. Hands will be sanitized once more.
10. Each classroom will have an air purifier with a HEPA filter running for the duration of class. Students doing barrework will do so at a socially distant space. Staff members will be cleaning between classes, so your prompt arrival and pick-up is very important. All students need to have a personal bottle of hand sanitizer, a mask, water bottle (if desired), and dance shoes in their bags. Please do not send book bags, extra belongings, food from home, etc.
* Last year, in order to safely re-open our dance studio we established a series of strict protocols and guidelines to keep our students and staff well. Our methods worked, with no staff or student illness resulting from participation in the program at TDC. I am very proud of and thankful to my families and staff for following our guidelines. That being said, we are closely monitoring guidance from the CDC as well as other medical and community sources and our protocols, though relaxed somewhat, are still in place. This remains a fluid situation and we will continue to keep you posted should things change.
